Angels appear in the sacred books of many faiths and the Bible contains some of the most wonderful descriptions of these beings. In this weekend painting workshop we will try and capture the essence of angels in a piece of our own artwork.
On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude. (The vision of the Archangel Michael from the Book of Daniel 10:4-6).
No previous painting or drawing experience is needed, this is not about painting technique or accuracy – this workshop is about contacting your creativity and allowing the Holy Spirit to move through you.
Our finished artwork could be abstract, highly figurative, or in the style of an icon – this painting weekend is open for each person to intuitively respond in the way that best suits them.
In this weekend workshop we will be working in ‘The Hive’ our own dedicated space, which includes tea and coffee making facilities.
Everyone will have their own working area set up and ready for when they arrive. All materials will be provided. You may want to bring an apron in case of paint splashes and spills.

Years ago I went to Art College and studied illustration and printmaking. I worked in marketing for many years before becoming a Minister and was pleased to start painting again whilst on retreat in Canada last year.
These workshops are a chance for me to pick up my brushes once more and share the lovely surroundings of Purley as well as my interest in the subject of angels and angelic art.
