All are welcome to join our service of worship. Purley is a New Church and established upon the theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, the service of worship will therefore include ideas from Swedenborg concerning the symbolic aspect of the Bible – called its inner “spiritual sense”. This allows for a deeper understanding of scripture and a means to apply what has been apprehended to one’s own life. Worship is led by Rev. Alison Southcombe.  Our service on August 4th will…

We can work towards becoming aware of their light and beneficial kinship in our lives, and this weekend workshop is a wonderful opportunity to learn about…

Autumn Studies – The Life of Elisha

30 September 2019 at 4:00 pm - 4 October 2019 at 11:30 am

Swedenborg believed that the Bible should be read as a multi-layered description of the spiritual realities within us and in the world beyond. In this relaxed and friendly few days together we will be looking at the whole life of Elisha as related in the Book of Kings, and whose name first occurs in the command given to Elijah to anoint him as his successor. Working from the text we will examine Elisha’s life in the light of Swedenborg’s writings – to see…
